Not all sports cars are gas guzzlers, apparently, with the introduction of the CR-Z, a sports concept car from Honda.

Keeping true to it’s commitment to cooperate in reducing global warming, Honda’s CR-Z touts itself to be a hybrid gasoline-electric car which maintains the speed and power expected of a sports car but is also green and energy efficient.

Models are already currently in the works, with Honda saying that they might release the final version of the car sometime in late 2009 or later. It uses the Integrated Motor Assist system from Honda, as well as a 1.8 liter 140bhp engine. But other than this, no other details or specification for the vehicle have been released. The CR-Z can also sit up to 4 people at a time.

ngvThe looks of the Civic plus the cleanliness of a stove, get down and green with Honda’s Civic GX that runs on natural gas. Rated as an Advanced Technology Partial-Zero-Emission Vehicle(AT-PZEV), it is used in conjunction with the home refueling system called Phill for which they won the greenest car awards by presenting a realistic and proven technology you can drive now and not tomorrow. The vehicle is allowed on HOV lanes across the US and it sports a 113-HP, 4 cylinder 1.8 liter 16-valve SOHC i-VTEC engine that still offers the speed of the Civic without a single drop of gas in sight. The interior sports a two-tiered instrument panel and comes with MP3/WMA support for those digital audio files you wish to play while you drive around in your mean and clean Green Honda GX. Buy one and get a special Federal Tax Credit option for the US plus a free decal for the state of California (gives you unrestricted access HOV carpool lanes on the highway). The technology is here, and so is the Civic GX, with two more coming from the automaker, the CR-Z and the Insight coming soon to a dealer near you.

While we await the full release of Honda’s FCX Clarity which is now on limited lease (200 units) in the state of California, the next best thing would be to opt for the GX series which uses an engine adapted to run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). This take one closer to a full electric car which is the FCX and exceeds emission standards set for the state. With incorporated dual-stage/dual-threshold front airbags that detect the severity of collisions adjusting deployment speed, coupled with side-curtain airbags to take care of the sides, safety is excellent and greatly improved and comparable with more luxurious cars.
It uses the same technology to drive an F-18 Hornet (drive by wire) using computers to adjust the parameters of the engine to deliver maximum performance when needed. A projected 100 mile/ 160.9 kms range for a full tank of gas is also not bad. Refueling takes overnight for a fully depleted tank which is good if one has a home refueling system that loads fuel as you sleep waking to a full tank ready for another day’s driving.

The 2009 Honda Pilot is a crossover SUV that seats nine passengers in a 3-row interior setting. It was first revealed as the Pilot Prototype at the North American Auto Show last March.

The car has a 5-speed automatic communication and is powered by a 250-hp 3.5-liter V6. It is like an enhanced version of the first production Honda Pilot. The engineers at Honda added more passenger and cargo space to the car and it seems to work quite well. The car’s value is just right for the improved power and economy features.

If you’re someone who’s adventurous, then this solid crossover is for you. They may have gone overboard with the detailed styling of the lights and the corrugated fuel filler cap, but there is no rejecting that nothing so practical ever came out so styled.
